Immediately after the treatment, during the healing process, minor swelling and redness may appear for 24 – 48 hours. Please do not pick, squeeze or agitate your skin during the recovery period, this will go down!
Avoid the following activities following a Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy.
Avoid touching your face for at least two hours, to allow the injection sites to heal over. If you do need to touch your face, wash your hands before touching.
Avoid exposure to prolonged sunlight
Excessively hot showers, bathing, spas or saunas
Rigorous exercise
Excessive amounts of alcohol, as this will increase the swelling and possible bruising
Keep the area free of oil-based products, heavy cosmetic’s and thick moisturisers for at least 4 hours.
Avoid the following for 2 weeks post Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy.
Anti-inflammatory medications (i.e. ibuprofen, brufen, naproxen, voltaren, neurofen) as these may interfere with platelet activity and reduce the inflammation required as part of the healing process
Your treated area may feel a bit tender for a few days. Mild bruising may also occur, this is not a bad thing as this causes an increase of platelets to the area - however if bruises are painful or too unsightly, you can use a small amount of Arnica cream, tablets or spray and Hirudoid cream to speed the recovery and reduce the time of visible bruising.
